Our analysis is packed with spoilers, and it is a movie worth watching, so you might want to see it before you read more. She changes his life, and in so doing rather unexpectedly and drastically changes her own. That night the wife and mother is awakened by the sound of the television broadcasting that same news, gets out of bed, fiddles with the equipment, and finds herself on a video call with the young boy back in 1988. They entertain themselves by watching these, but before they shut it off they inexplicably receive live broadcast news of the opening of the Berlin Wall from 1988. A couple with a young daughter who have just moved into their new home find an old analog television with CRT display paired with what must once have been a cutting edge video camera with magnetic recording tapes, which belonged to a young boy who lived in that house twenty-five years previously, who had been recording tapes of himself playing the guitar and sometimes singing. In something reminiscent of Frequency we have a communications connection, this time facilitated by a freak electrical storm occurring for three days in 1988 and even more freakishly on those same three calendar days exactly twenty-five years later. The original Spanish title, Durante la tormenta, renders to During the Storm, a reasonably appropriate description of a key element of the setting, but someone made the decision to market it under the English title Mirage, a reference to a book which is a minor clue in the events. Intent on obtaining the formula, Crawford threatens David, but Shela comes to his rescue.Netflix has offered another foreign language time travel film, this time Spanish, but subbed and dubbed in English and not difficult to follow. Now recalling everything, David returns to the Unidyne Building and comes face to face with Crawford. Trying to prevent the burning of the formula, Calvin fell to his death. Now it is recalled that David had discovered the secret of neutralizing radioactivity at its source, that he had taken his discovery to Calvin, and that then he had attempted to destroy the formula when it became apparent that Calvin, for mercenary gain, wanted to pass it on to his business associate, Major Crawford. Broden, and together they deduce that he is a physiochemist and that he lost his memory when he saw his best friend, Calvin, fall to his death. Threatened now by two gunmen, David returns to Dr. Detective Ted Caselle takes on the challenge but is quickly murdered in his office. Broden, who refuses to help him for fear of becoming involved with the police. Going to his own apartment, he meets Lester, a gunman who wants to take him to "the Major." David knocks Lester unconscious, then goes to the police, but his story is not believed because he cannot remember where or when he was born. When he returns to the building, he finds that there are no stairs and that offices he has remembered do not exist. David Stillwell descends the long stairway that leads to street level, but he soon realizes that he cannot remember people he meets, among them Shela, who apparently know him. As New York City's Unidyne Building is thrown into darkness, peace worker Charles Calvin falls from his 27th-floor window.
